Step by step

Get a Monero wallet

You need a wallet that can receive Monero. Pick one, install it, and create a new wallet. Write down the seed phrase and store it somewhere safe and offline.

Only share your public address. Never share your seed phrase, private spend key, or private view key with anyone. Sardene will never ask for them.

Copy your public address

In your wallet, find your primary address. It is 95 characters long and starts with 4. Some wallets also show an integrated address that is 106 characters long and starts with 8; either works.

Build your Sardene link

Go to sardene.com, scroll to the creator link builder, paste your public address, add a label, and click Generate link. You will get:

  • A shareable download link for social posts, emails, and websites.
  • An open-in-app link for people who already have Sardene.
  • An embeddable badge you can put on your site or GitHub.

Everything is generated in your browser. Your address is not sent to us.

Share the link

Put it wherever your audience already finds you: your website, video description, newsletter footer, GitHub README, or social bio. The easier it is to find, the more likely donors are to install Sardene.

Receive mined XMR

When donors run Sardene with your address, their computers mine Monero through a mining pool. The pool accumulates payouts and sends XMR to your wallet address. Depending on the pool, this may happen automatically once you cross a small payout threshold.

You can watch your pending balance grow on the pool's dashboard. In the Sardene app, go to Balances to see pool-side and on-chain totals at a glance.

Cash out to your local currency

Once XMR is in your wallet, you can sell it. Options vary by country, so check what is available where you live.

  • Kraken — major exchange with XMR markets. Verify it serves your country.
  • getmonero.org merchants & exchanges list — neutral directory of wallets, exchanges, and brokers that support Monero.
  • Peer-to-peer exchanges and local brokers in your region.

Frequently asked questions

How long until I receive something?

It depends on how many donors run Sardene and for how long. A single donor on a typical laptop might generate a few dollars per month at current prices. A hundred donors can add up quickly. The mining pool pays out based on its own schedule and threshold, usually after you have earned a small amount of XMR.

Do I need to keep Sardene open to receive?

No. Donors run Sardene on their machines. You just need a valid Monero address. Your wallet does not need to be online for the pool to credit your address.

What if I don't want to deal with exchanges?

You can also spend XMR directly with merchants that accept it, or hold it. The getmonero.org merchant list includes businesses that accept Monero.

Is this taxable?

Probably. Most jurisdictions treat received cryptocurrency as income or property. Keep records of what you receive and when. Talk to a tax professional in your country.
