What it is

Most donation tools sit between you and the recipient. Sardene doesn't. The app runs a standard Monero miner (xmrig) on your machine, sends the work to a mining pool, and the pool pays the recipient's wallet directly. Sardene itself never touches the money.

You can mine to any public Monero address, or point the app at a web page that declares its address:

The app reads the address from the page, confirms it with you, and starts mining. When you close the app, the address is gone from memory. Nothing is stored on our servers because there are no servers in the donation path.

How to use it

• Download and install the app for your OS.
• Paste a Monero address, or enter a URL that declares one.
• Pick a CPU preset: light, normal, or max.
• Press start. The miner runs in the background and stops when you tell it to.

That's it. No signup, no curated directory to browse. You can bring your own Monero address or use the optional local wallet generator inside the app. The whole point is that the choice of who to support belongs to you.

What one donor is worth

These numbers come from test machines used during development. Your fans' hardware will vary, and the XMR price moves, so the table below shows this year's range — peak, current, and minimum — at the current Monero network difficulty.

Assumptions: network hashrate ~5.9 GH/s, block reward ~0.6 XMR, 720 blocks/day. Power draw depends on the CPU. Donors pay their own electricity; creators receive the mined XMR. Daily values are gross proceeds, not profit.

What a community adds up to

Most people will not run max 24/7. The table below mixes realistic usage patterns at the current XMR price. Multiply or divide by roughly 1.4× to see the peak-to-minimum range for 2026.

These are gross mining proceeds, not profit. They do not include electricity, hardware wear, or pool fees. They will move with the XMR price and network difficulty. Treat them as order-of-magnitude planning numbers, not a guarantee.

Hardware care

Mining makes your CPU work hard. It will run hotter and louder than normal, and sustained heat shortens the life of any machine. Before you start:

• Clean your fans and vents. Dust is the single biggest reason laptops and desktops overheat. Blow it out first.
• Check that your fans work. A stuck fan can turn a warm machine into a damaged one in minutes.
• Use it on hardware you own and can afford to wear. Running a CPU at full load 24/7 is not free. Expect higher electricity bills and some reduction in component lifespan.
• Don't mine on shared, work, school, or public machines. That is not what this tool is for and it can get you fired or prosecuted.
• Start with light. If your machine gets too hot or loud, stop. A donation tool should not destroy the donor's computer.

If a machine feels unusually hot, starts throttling, or the fan sounds wrong, stop mining and fix the cooling before continuing.

Protocol, not platform

Sardene is a reference implementation of a simple protocol: a page declares a wallet address, and a local app resolves that address and donates compute to it. We don't run a directory, we don't hold wallets for creators, and we don't approve causes. We ship the software. Creators publish their own addresses. Donors decide who to mine for.

Adjacency policy

Sardene is the rail, not the mall. The core project publishes open-source software that lets people donate compute directly to a wallet address. That is all it does.

Other ideas — curated directories, fiat cash-out services, creator portals, marketplaces, token layers, exchanges — are welcome to exist, but they must be separate projects. They may be mentioned in Sardene documentation. Sardene does not vet, endorse, or take a cut of any of them.

This boundary is not mistrust. It is the shape that keeps Sardene from becoming a platform that can be captured, regulated into a corner, or turned against the people using it. Build around it, not inside it.

Wallet safety for creators

Sardene only ever needs your public Monero address. That is the long string that starts with 4 (standard address) or 8 (integrated address) and is 95 or 106 characters long. Anyone can see it; that is the point.

Never paste into any website or send to anyone:

• Your seed phrase (usually 24 or 25 words)
• Your private spend key
• Your private view key

These control your funds. If someone asks for them to "set up donations" or "verify your wallet," they are scamming you. Sardene will never ask for them.

Don't have a wallet yet?

Sardene includes an optional, local wallet generator. It creates a Monero keypair on your device, shows you the seed phrase once, and never transmits it. Write it down and keep it offline. If you prefer, use one of the third-party wallets above instead.

Third-party exchanges (not affiliated with Sardene)

Mined XMR lands in your wallet. To convert it to local currency, you use a third-party exchange or broker. Availability depends heavily on your country, so verify what works where you live.

Sardene has no partnership, referral deal, or integration with any wallet or exchange. These links are purely informational.

The reference implementation is released under the AGPL-3.0-only license. By using the app or this site you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Sardene does not custody funds, vet recipients, or guarantee mining outcomes. Mining uses electricity and generates heat and noise. Use it on hardware you own and at your own discretion.
